Employment

Full-time college student, part-time employment, writing, reporting, editing, questioning, answering, researching, reading, and finding time to blink let alone take a break. 25 hours of homework a week, another 25 hours dedicated to paper or plastic, fries with that shake and oh my goodness Timmy just peed on himself again!!! And to come home to some people who look down on you for doing what you must to get ahead. The opportunity was there within the grasp of all. If it wasn't given to me, I took it and ran. What's ironic is that the same people who taught me to defend myself are the same people threatened by their own tactics. Family and friends, I say family and friends; when you tell me to not let people take advantage of me or don't let no person condescend me, don't get offended when you unconsciously try to toy with my emotions and I tell you what the mandatory things you don't want to hear. I understand what you have done for me; you have earned my respect, now it's time you earn mine. As for the ones who believe that misery deserves many companions, calling me lazy is out of the option. Once again, I'm a full-time college student with obligations both on and off campus. Don't talk to me about jobs if you don't even have one yourself. It's one thing for my parent to buy me a present just because, but if I earn my money and treat myself, how is that being spoiled? Try concerning yourself with yourself for a change. It seems like I owe you an apology for my independence. You, my friends, who believe in equality and historically deny me the right to make a decent living, owe me an apology for socializing me to be more like the so-called normies and still judge me because of the color and the stereotypes associated with it. I thought society was big on individuality, you see. Some people have been working since the age of sixteen and that should validate why they know a thing or two about hard work. Well, I've been working hard all of my life, and all I can do is validate my experiences as lived through my being. Instead of question and trying to confirm social myths, ask yourself if these myths are really necessary to apply for this job...

Mission

The Avant-garde Conformist is the star child of Regina Rivers and Marcus Scott, in a time altered by the perceptions and worldview of our significant other: Society. In our efforts as up-and-coming literary auteurs, we intend to utilize our freelancing skills in order to free minds, bodies, and enlighten others about our sociological and psychological intuitions. We are at an age in which we question why we should look through the focal lens of the majority and instead, create alternatives to what society calls either ordinary, normal or acceptable. This is our ordinary.
